Shift

Once I realised Square had used plain uncompressed SHIFT_JIS to encode SaGa Frontier's dialogue (appropriating what's usually the ASCII portion for their field script opcodes), and it became gloriously apparent that the translators had taken advantage of the fact that alphanumeric and other Western characters also appear among the double-bytes, very soon my text viewer had become happily capable of working with both versions of the game—whereupon it transpired that some untranslated text exists in the North American version. Since I'm still using an increasingly unwieldy regex to isolate the dialogue, this may not be displaying entirely properly [update: it wasn't], but it demonstrates that there's something there:

I hope it turns out to be more interesting than e.g. some duplicate of text from another map. [Update: it did.] SGF doesn't have the kind of wild redundancy FFVII does, so here's hoping—
